Anywhere from 50-90watt halogen flood bulbs from the hardware store. These are inexpensive and throw a ton of heat compared to similar wattage regular bulbs. I've found a reduction in my electric bill since switching most basking bulbs to halogen floods. I also use some 160 watt PowerSun MV bulbs from ZooMed.

I use Exo Terra lights first of all, they last a *LOT* longer than ZooMed in my experience, and are a lot less likely to go out 'early'

I use 3 lights, mostly because the area I keep the Tegu in is rather cold.

A 100 watt 'Neodymium' Day Glo light (It doesn't get as warm as their Tight Beam desert version) It stays pretty evenly around 110 under it (In a 55 gallon, by the way.) and then I have an infra red 50 watt and a "night" color 40 watt light designed to heat the air and not create a hot basking area.

And one heating pad under his hide (It's 6 inches of mulch atleast, and the Exo Terra heating pads don't get too super hot, so it's not like it's excessively hot in his hide, maybe high 70s, lower 80s. I only put it there to up the humidity in there.)

I also enjoy the blue glow given off by the Neodyium in the day glo exo terras. I did a comparison where I set up regular halogens, basking bulbs, etc.. which all have a white or even yellow glow. Conversely, I used the neodynium bulbs. I found the blue glow to be hypnotically appealing, and was much easier on my eyes. It made the cage feel more jungle like. I really can't say how long the day glows last, becuase I have been using one 100W day glo basking and one 50W day glow basking since the beginning of October for 12 hours a day and they are still both going.

For a 24 hour heat source I use a 250W infrared bulb from Fleet Farm which costs about $4 and lasts a long time as well. Any other questions?
