what is proper size light for a 10 gallon tank--currently using undertank heat but was considering using both -BRIAN

i just have a dome lamp with a with a 50w zoomed light bulb.

thanks-do you use any night lighting?

in the summer no.. this winter i think i'm going to get a red night bulb that wont affect their sleeping but give off heat simply because i notice the temperature in the tank lower at night..

it really depends on the room temp.

i use a 25watt bulb with a UTH on my 20L and i hit 86-92 depending on how hot the room stays.

on my 10g i use no light and its a constant 84-88 with nothing but the UTH.

i'd suggest using a 25-40watt and it should raise the temp just fine.

but i'm using a 50watt right now and day time temps are good.. but night time with no light temps drop because my room is cold.. so i'm getting a night heat lamp.. for that purpose

if the 50 works then stay with it.

a 40watt light at night should be fine cause you dont want to retain 85-90 all the time,Remember temps can go as low a 70 no problem with no ill effect.

Plus with the UTH if the gecko is cold he/she will retreat to the hot side of the tank.
