Feeding a Budgett's Frog

Lenny Dec 18, 2003 07:48 PM

I've been feeding my budgett's frog a diet exclusively of frozen goldfish. Is this a good diet for him?

Most people here advise against feeding goldfish to frogs. This is because they are high in cholesterol. High fat and high cholesterol diets in amphibians have been associated with lipid plaque accumulation in the corneas of frogs causing blindness. I would rec. gut-loaded, calcium dusted crickets, silkworms, superworms, and earthworms (not bait shop variety and careful of pesticides in wild caught earthworms).
