how often should my snake poop?

shortydsm Dec 19, 2003 04:16 AM

My question/post has been ignored in the rosy boa forum so I thought I might have better luck here. My sub-adult rosy ate 2 mice in a week & he has not pooped yet. (I've only had him fo rabout 2 weeks now). I was wondering how often they should be going to the bathroom??

I don't have intimate experience with rosy boa but I wouldn't be worrying too much. What I would do is make sure that it has adequate water, heat and food. Unless there is some obvious swelling or bloating I would say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". If it's overall behavior is good I wouldn't worry about poop. If I see abnormal poop I would worry but I don't 'count' them. I may note them on a card but that is all. I have snakes that go every week and an SST that goes every two or three months, go fig.
