Follow up; lack of ventral pattern

Ecosense Dec 19, 2003 07:41 AM

Looking at the mosaic kings I noticed that the striped specimen on ekrs also lacks ventral patterning. In Markle's hard back there is a black & white photo of an albino ali that appears to be lacking ventral patterning. I'm starting to think this is a fairly common condition.

Any thoughts or additional comments?

an adult pair and one of their cb 03 babies.

The male has the "normal" checkerboard belly pattern, the female has a mostly black belly with a few light squares, and the baby has a mostly yellow belly with only a few small black squares.

I think it is individual variation throughout the range rather than a regional thing like the black-bellied cal kings.

I dont think its common but Ive seen it in about 4 of the 40 different Easterns Ive owned over the years. Seems usually to be the ones from the south. Your Albino looks to have some white on its belly though.
