2 breeding/morph questions....

IcedGoddess Dec 19, 2003 09:24 AM

This first question is pretty much just curiosity, since I don't have any charcoal or het charcoal that I'm aware of, but....

If you breed an aneryA (not het anything else) to a charcoal (also not het anything else) Would the babies all be normal? Or can the two anery types "blend" and make a sort of "inbetween" anery-charcoal?

And the second question is for future breeding..another one of those times I wish I was born with patience

I have an anery stripe girl from Kathy, and a normal patterned, very light, aneryA from Don. Would these two make partial stripe babies? maybe even a full stripe? Or is the normal pattern completely dominant?

I think that's all for now since I can't breed my little girl for a few years yet. But curiosity runs rampant here...so if you know, please reply

Thanks

Anery A X Charcoal = normal dh for AneryA and Charcoal

The only thing the two anery genes have in common is a similar look. They are not at the same locus, and therefore do not combine.

AneryA stripe x Anery A = Anery A het for stripe

Normal pattern is dominant. If you were to breed your snake to an AneryA motley, you'd get striped-motleys, but breeding to an aneryA with normal pattern will yield only AneryA's.

I also have some morph questions. I have 2 female striped, one is albino and one is normal stripe. I have a male that is blizzard but in the neck area it appears to have a very faint stripe. What do you think will be the result of these? Is it possible that my blizzard has stripe genes in him? If not then what will a normal blizzard with an albino striped create?
Thanks

You have a dilema like mine I have a snow and no idea what she has in her. lol

If the blizzard is het for stripe, you would get stripe-amel babies out of the amel stripe, and stripe-normal out of the normal stripe. That is, if the normal and amel aren't het for anything else. If the blizzard isn't het or masked stripe, then you'd get amel het stripe and normal het stripe. Again assuming the amel and normal aren't het anything else.

I'm breeding my snow to a different male every year to see what she's hiding. Good luck with yours
