im doing a sorta experiment this season........

roi3in Dec 19, 2003 11:34 AM

yall know how i like stripes
l just want to know what exactly makes em tick hehe genetically speaking.
now i know this will not be an experient on the whole plethera of striped geeks out there but it should prove to be interesting
ok soooooo
last year i bred my pair of stripes together and every single baby was striped.... fully striped parents and 100 percent fully striped offspring
ok so now this year
i bought 1.1 of the possible "het" red stripes (i hope i hit on these hehe but if i dont they should make some awesome babies )anywho, one thing though is that they are completely banded tangerine hypos whoms dad was the spectacular red stripe and im assuming moms was a hypo tang or somehting (no stripe genes)

see pictures
bare with me i think my camera is dieing because lately my pics seem to be really sucking

evil male possible "het" stripe

female possible "het" stripe

ok so i was thinking what else should i breed him to as well, first to diversify the bloodlines and outcross but something that could "better" my chances at some sorta stripe or jungle. also i wanted something different as in ok i have this possible "het", a full stripe and an abbarant (jungle back as a baby but no broken tail banding but does come from a striped line)

so i picked these two girls

my short squaty but weighs in at 55 grams what a fatty, when i look at her i giggle

and a full striper looks like with some tang or hypo genes or both dunno really

now what will i get??? who knows... but i sure think its gonna be fun finding out!!!!!!!

and shoot never know i could have some other females that might fit in nice with this expriment too... just got to wait and see how some of em turn out

any comments or experiences?

I'm looking very forward to your results. I'll be doing quite a few experiments with stripes and jungles this season as well in hopes of more accurately understanding the genetics. I'm sure the results will be very interesting.

. . . that leo is nice . I think it would be great to see if we could bold that multiple stripe - sort of like how you see some striped gargoyles (rhac. auriculatus). That would be a neat look.

That is too funny. Sounds like you've got a handful there. At least he's a looker, you know how those "Hollywood types" are.
