hey ...those perches look way too thick for a snake that size..no wonder hes laying on the floor..that looks more like a hampster cage..there are tons of care sheets all over the web...you should have read one before buying your snake.

RalphSnakeMan Dec 20, 2003 12:01 PM

Actually, I read alot of the care sheets on the web, and none of them stated size requirements for perches in the terrarium. He is currently situated on one of the perches and he appears fine. The PVC Jungle Gym that I built for him is just temporary, I will be giving him something smaller soon.

Thanks for your concern,
Ralph

i like the way you handled that...i probably would have [bleep]ed him out....

anyway...very nice snake, i just started my gtp colony as well, Im up to 1.1 biak, and 1.1 nabire, i have an adult female biak comming as well that will be ready for my male next year, but the first female wont be ready for 2 years or so.

The only think I can comment on is to add smaller branches; leaving the ones in there if you want. My preference.... I like to keep everything on paper, especially NEW snakes, just to spot correct feces, and make sure no parasites are running around.

either way, youll do fine if you read up and feel ready for chondros.

Good Luck

Chris

Hey Chris,

Thanks for the advice, that is a good point you make with the paper, maybe I will switch him over, I keep my hatchling JCP on paper, I don't see why it wouldn't be a good idea for my GTP

Anyways, thanks for adding something POSITIVE. I'm going to upload another pic of him that I took today, I'll post it up for you.

Good Luck with your collection, sounds Awesome! I really hope to get my hands on some adults next year, so I can take an attempt at breeding them next season.

Hey that's a great pic of your GTP. Check out this link:
http://www.finegtps.com/cagingbabies.htm

It has a nice simple set-up for a GTP. I got a lot of tips from it. I actually made the same set-up in the link and it cost me under $10!!

Good Luck with him

For a snake that size plastic coat hangers would work best. They usually like something about the same diamater as there body.

I like to use chop sticks....
