Agro-light plant light?????

mngrivera Dec 19, 2003 03:55 PM

I was wondering if this bulb would put off any uvb?? It says on the box "for the acceleration of indoor plant growth" I have a reptile florescent that takes care of my uvb but I was wondering if this bulb could be a substitute for it??

Nope!

I have used them for plants and I also have a saltwater reef.

the "Plant Lights" are almost exactly the same as a "Daylight flood" reptile lamp.

lots of visible light, with the spectrum ballanced for blue and red zones for better plant growth and a more "natural" color hue. "standard" light bulbs are "Yellow" looking whenb you compare them with plant lights.

and btw: I just got a Zoo-Med MVB and to my eye it looks more
"Blue White" than a reptile basking spot I have.... almost seems dimmer in a way.....

also btw: for saltwater aquariums there are what is called
"Ultra actintic 03" tubes (compact Fl. and Std Fl.)
that are very "close" to the output of a MVB but stop just shy of any UVB output.

very few bulbs / lamps emit that uvb due to the fact that most uses do not need it and it costs more to make the right kind of quartz glass that will pass UVB wavelengths.
