Although the patternless ball is beautiful in its own right, I must confess I find the pattern of the "what produced them" snake to be more attractive. It reminds me of the coffee ball that the Barkers had a little while ago. Anyone know if this type of pattern may become available in the foreseeable future?

Theyare called "Labyrinth" ball pythons......NOW DONT GET THESE CONFUSED WITH NORMAL LABBYS......they are NOT the same!!!!!!!!!

This is a totally different morph....it is a co-dominant mutation. The animal pictured in my post was a VERY nice example of the gene/trait, the "regular" labbies look similar to the cinnamon pastels.....so who knows....

What are those called? I'm assuming that they're incompletely dominant.

Is it just the play of the light spots on the nostrils against the background color of the snake or is it's snout a little shorter than normal?

She definitely has grown - took a little while to figure out exactly what she wanted, but now she's starting to really take off.

Her snout is a bit odd, but it gives her such an endearingly cute appearance.

I saw them at the Daytona expo the previous year.

Weird indeed. I guess I don't get the whole interest in patternless. Must be a refined taste. To me the pattern is the beauty.

nerd_inc Dec 19, 2003 07:06 PM

...may you come to better appreciate the pattern!!!

In all seriousness though, isn't that the greatest thing about ball pythons? There really is something out there to suit each keeper's individual tastes...and if there isn't, it's bound to hatch soon!!!!

I'll bet they would make some cool looking "Holstein" or "Cow" pieds!
