Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if Indian Uromastyx are fatter than other species, in particular Malis? Cheddar, my Idian uro, is still scared of being handled, but she is getting better and never hisses and even walks around a bit. She never "flattens out" however, like my Malis. Even when she is relaxed in the cage she is fat, like she is puffed with air, especially in her abdominal region. She isn't puffed up though, as sometimes she gets puffed up and then relaxes and wrinkles of skin appear along her sides, but she is never as flat as my Malis, who are always flat unless they get startled and puff up a bit. Is this normal for an Indian? Or could she be gravid? The person my boyfriend bought her from didn't say anything about her being gravid, and I'd assume they would know, but maybe not. What are the signs of being gravid, and how long is it until they get "fat" and finally lay eggs? Thanks for any help

Hello,

Indian Uromastyx are uch more slender than other species, but their body's do have a rounded, barrel shape.

It will be fairly obvious if she is gravid as you should be able to see lumps, and her body will feel harder, where as they are quite soft when they are normal.

I am brumating my Indians at the moment in hope of breeding them.
