Found Snake

Today we had a repairman out to our house to repair our dryer. We thought we had a lint clog but we actually had a snake climb into our dryer vent. We live in New England and it does not appear to be a snake indigenous to this area. We suspect someone's pet got loose. We are trying to indentify it and it most closely resembles a scarlet kingsnake. The only thing is its head is balck then yellow then black then red and the pattern repeats down to its tail. It was dead and some color had faded. Could it be any other snake other than a scarlet kingsnake? It is about a 12-15 inches long, best we can tell. Small head and about a half inch to inch in girth. Thanks! PRM

Yellow bands could actually be white and are slightly wider on the back than on the belly.

Most likely a scarlet Kingsnake, or a SSP of Milk Snake.
