Hardwicki Uromastyx

Platinum Dec 19, 2003 09:45 PM

Anyone keep these? Opinions? I was out today and absolutely fell in love with one at a pet shop. Got to hold the lil' guy and everything. (Mainly because I'm a 'regular' at that store and the herp guy knows me, heh. You know you're a geek when!)

Anyway, yeah... At the moment I do have experience caring for herps. Just not lizards. Just looking at it as an option in the future.

Thanks!

Hello,

Indian Uromastyx (hardwicki) are a wonderful species to keep. I have a pair in my collection and I am looking for more. They have some of the friendliest personalities and, although they re not as brightly coloured as other species, they more than make up for this with their characters.

Let us know if you get the Indian, and feel free to ask any questions.

Hugh

Hello-

I have a young 7" Hardwicki.
He was pretty skittish and I did receive alot of threat displays prior to his recent short brumation. I thought maybe he was intimidated by seeing all the large egyptians in the other enclosures (I covered his for a while...)
He seems much more tolerant of me now. Still does not like to be held...
On a side note, he shares his enclosure with a 7" ornate. They seem to get along fine!
I am not a proponent of sharing cages though sometimes it works....
Good luck.
Ed
