The Frog eyed geckos are pretty interesting little fellas. I have a large male Tibetan. This is how I keep him, works great. He is on about 5 inches of playsand. There are pvc pipes that stick straight down into the sand. I fill these with water to make the sand underneath wet. He spends most of his time buried somewhere in the tank. His favorite hidy place is a large PVC tube that is buried under the sand. lol, I guess he has just gotten to lazy to build his own tunnels. Anyway, I only see him when he is hungry. Then he pops his head out and seems to say "ok woman, feed me"
I can tell you they like it hot. One end of his tank is pretty darn close to 100 degrees while the other side is room temp. He spends most of his time on the warm end.
Oh yeh, just remember these guys are not handable and they are mean as heck. I had an escapee (a cranky male G. luii) that somehow managed (never did figure this out) to get into the tank with the Frog-Eyed. The Frog-eyed tore him apart.
I have also heard stories about these guys taking on cats and winning.
