THANK YOU VERY MUCH for offering your help in trying to solve the mistery of my toad. I will be going tomorrow to pick up both Novaqua and Amquel and I will use them together at all times from here on out. I was changing the water in the toads tank every day, but I also don't know what the amonia level is in my tap water.

I don't know if it was a water quality thing (Because it happened to quickly) Or if my poor Toad Sister was hurt somehow. But what ever the cause, I'm hoping that my bosses vet will be able to do a necropsy tomorrow (free or cheap... this couldn't have possibly happened at a worse time money wise. Normally I have a little extra set aside for such emergencies... but Christmas took me a little short this year)

If you happen to think of anything else that it might have been... or if you have any questions that might bring about an answer... please feel free to email me.

Any help that I can get right now is welcome!!!!

I guess this is in response to the email from Becki?

BTW, Aquatic Ecosystems (aquaticeco.com) has VERY affordable generic dechlorinators that seem to be exactly like the NovAqua and Amquel. In the quantities I have to buy, I have saved 100s of $.

My bosses vet was kind enough to take a look at the toad for me for no charge!!!

Turns out that it was indeed an impaction caused by the moss that I had in the tank. He guesses she just grabbed up to big of a hunk with a cricket and simply couldn't pass it.

I will no use moss in my enclosures any more and what I have been using has been all taken out of all my tanks.

More news...

I picked up both Novaqua and Amquel, mixed up my watering bottles (including my misting bottle) and got a very surprising reaction from all my froggies. None of them hopped away when I mistd this time and every one of them went right for the "new and improved water" for a good soak!

I will NEVER use anything other than these two products again unless someone can prove something better!!!

I can not thank you enough for all the help you have provided over my last 8 months of the hobby!!!

Heather:

Thanks for sharing all of this with us.I'm very sorry for your loss. That's really something about the moss, but good news about the other's reactions with the misting. I realize that this has saddened you, but maybe it's a small consolation that many learn here with situations like this. A big THANK YOU from me.

Definitely a big loss and disappointment on my end, but I am thankful of the learning experience and that the imformation can also be helpful for others.

It's been said many times before... this is a learning process, unfortunately we have to have some losses to gain knowledge.
