Tokays and their young

Dakman Dec 20, 2003 12:52 AM

I was weary at first but not anymore, thanx ingo for the advice. In this pic you can see one of my females at the top and my male at bottom with hatchling also guarding the eggs. Theirs 5-6 babies running around in the adult tank now and I regularly find them laying right next to or slightly under any of the three adults. Their growth rate appears to be better than the ones I seperated earlier this year.

can you tell me what your doing to get tokay gecko eggs thanks

I take you mean getting them to breed so they will lay eggs. Thats not a simple question to answer but heres my best shot cause there is no secret. I have one male and two females together in a large tank, ample room for them to feel comfortable. I feed them well and mist in the morning and evening maintaing a decent humidity. I've provided plenty of hiding areas on warm and cool sides and also up high and down low. I pretty much dont handle my adults except for routine cleaning duties so I dont stress them. Thats about it, I didnt do anything special to tell you. its mostly up to youre Tokays to feel established and comfortable enough to get at it. I also use a red bulb heat source 24/7 and another light fixture a couple feet above the tank on a timer to estabish a day/night cycle that I control. Nothing new here but I hope it helps.

It's neat how they keep laying in the same place. My whitelines spread out clutches. Usually 6" or so apart. I really want to get some baby tokays like that.
