>>I have ownedmany reptiles but I got my first Mali Uromastyx about 4 days ago. I have a couple questions I was hopeing someof you could help me out with.
>>
>>1. It seems that My uro is sleeping all the time. I know it is eating because I see the food gone and I also see it's waste. Is such a large amount of sleep during the day normal? Or is the acclimation period what is causeing it? I'd say it's definately an acclimation period. he may not be sleeping, but rather "hiding out." Being young, he's feeling a bit like a scared runaway. If the food is getting consumed, and he/she is pooping, jump for joy! "All system's normal." Any change in "routine" should be followed by a close eye on it's behaviour through the day. If something is done that promotes a less than desirable reaction, don't do it. You find something that works, go with it.

>>2. How long should I wait before I start the handleing process? I've read that handling a uro frequently can help(?) with the acclimation period. I don't necessarily agree with this, though I know that all uros are different. Therefore, the "process" is totally up to you. Again, if handling it creates loss of apptitite, stop it. If it doesn't make any negative reaction, it's probably OK.

>>3. My uro is only a baby how often should I feed it I have been feeding it Dandelion greens chooped up carrot bits and chopped up green beans sprinkled with calcium powder every day. Should I continue this feeding schedule? I'd get it off the carrots and green beans and start acclimating it on to the greens that should be it's normal diet. If it knows where it's food dish is, maybe use bee pollen (if needed) to aid in getting it to eat them. Get the staple diet established now, so it knows what to expect for nutrition.
>> If anyone could help me out with these questions I would greatly appreciate it.
