Thea Dec 20, 2003 04:58 PM

I want to get a large, but not gian,t python; one that will grow to between 7 - 12 feet. Can anyone recommend a good type tahat is not too hard to find/expensive?

You might want to look into Jungle Carpet Pythons, or just Carpet Pythons for that matter, they generally grow between 6-8 ft and they are not too aggressive, expensive, or hard to come by.

Good Luck!

Check out the blood pythons, they have the girth of a large snake and don't get to long.Higher humidity is required though.

They are not costly. Pretty easy to care for and really attractive to boot. I like some of the crosses (diamond x jungle) because you get some of that diamondy look and maybe a little bit more size than pure JCP's. Here is a nice cross that I used to breed.

There is so much out there. You can go with a blood python, they get thick, real thick, But ya, the carpet python sweet looking. Check out a blood. Best thing is to go to NERDs web site , and Bob Clark web site, Bob has alot of pythons and tells you about them, check it out.
Good Luck

I myself am extremly partial to Burmese. If you find a male then it should be within your size requirements. Males tend to average between 10-12 feet. They are usually extremly placid and well mannered. Regular Burms are really inexpensive with several morphs under 300 bucks and even the high end morphs under a grand. Todd
