Ok lol.I dont think 3$ for 50 worms is a bad deal. But that depends on how many you are supposed to feed a dragon a day. So how many would be a decent amount?

What kind of worms, and from where? How old is your dragon, and what other foods is he eating daily?

All the worms at my local pet store are 3$ for 50 (butterworms mealworms and waxworms). My dragon is addicted to worms and wont eat crickets so basically hes been eatin waxworms. I am trying to get him to eat some veggies like mustard greens, green beans, romaine and some carrots. It is probably only about 6 months old.
I doubt you can get butterworms at the local pet store for $3 unless you live in the mountains of Chile. Places where most pet stores buy from have to have an import permit, and get them imported from Chile and sell 50 for $12 or more plus shipping (this is what I meant by expensive). So this pretty much leaves us off where we were down the forum a bit, and I would not recommend feeding wax or meal worms daily as a staple especially if he's not eating his veggies regularly daily, and you can add pellets to his diet, and get away with feeding him very few 2-3 times a week. Even then I would suggest super worms which your pet store might have over meal or wax worms. You might want to look into silks or super worms if you do not want to get him back to crickets, and he is not eating his veggies regularly. Most worms other then silks do not make a healthy daily feeder. Good Luck.
Silkworms can be bought from www.mulberryfarms.com. Most pet stores do not carry these. These you can feed daily, and they are healthy.
If your dragon is under 12-14 inches I would look at this site www.superwormfarm.com this is the only place I know of where you can purchase smaller sized super worms. They usually come close to 2 inches long at the pet stores. Super worms are like a large meal worm with a softer shell, so really not the best for daily feeding for smaller dragons, but could work if he eats his greens well, and you can offer a few a few times a week.

My friend owns 3 frogs and he has bought butterworms to feed to them and they are 3$ for 50....I have also asked the pet store and they are 3$.
that certainly seems low for butterworms. Sure he didn't say hornworms?
Silkworms are good to feed to your dragon as a stable, they are soft skinned and very easy to keep. Silkworms can grow to about 3 inches long before they pupate. A 6 month old dragon should be able to handle up to two inch worms (depending on his size) without any problems. Feed them about 4-10 silworms per meal (amount varies on size...less for bigger worms). My bearded dragon at 6 months ate between 3-5 1.5" worms per meal. about twice as much for the one inch worms.
Butterworms, if i remember correctly are about an inch long so your dragon probably eat anywhere from 6-10 per meal.
sorry was wrong on teh size of butterworms, they can grow up to 2". Checked the price on them as well...and a Canadian supplier sells them for $19 for 30 worms...which would be around $15 US.....maybe that petstore was selling 5 butterworms for $3 dollars...cause if it is realy $3 for 50, send me their address and number, I will order from them LOL.
maybe its actually waxworms? (waxies ARE different from butters, right?)
