Amelanistic eye color when sheding.

mrbfrog Dec 20, 2003 09:41 PM

I just got an amelanistic corn snake the other day and it has bright red eyes, I was wondering what the eyes look like before they are going to shed? It would be cool if someone had a picture. Do they turn kinda blueish like regular snake eyes?

thank you

My amels and snows eyes don't get blue like normals, just hazy and cloudy. Heck, its even hard for me to tell looking at the eyes of some of my snows when they are going into shed. Also, look at the belly to see if its getting cloudy. Another good indication is lack of feeding response with a normally good feeder. Thats usually more of a give away to me that they are going into shed more than eye clouding.

My amel's eyes don't go bluish, but they do change, and I find it easy to notice. It's more of a milky-white color, though. Here's the only picture that I have of her with pre-shed eyes.

I have an amel and she just shed. Her eyes don't go blue but get a bit hazy. Her body you can clearly tell...gets all white. She'll start her shed by going a little bit dull, then more dull, then white. Then she'll lighten up and finally shed. She shed in one piece this time, except the end of her tail. That I helped her with by moisting it for a few minutes and it came of easy.
