Did you get her from a reptile rescue?

Yes, I adopted her from the Colorado Reptile Rescue.
How'dya know?
Marcus
I tried like crazy to adopt her but one of the PETA-like freaks that worked there refused the adoption because I have a male Blue and CORR is opposed to breeding animals. Funny that is mentioned NOWHERE on their site.

Sorry you weren't able to adopt her. If it makes ya feel any better, I've got my work cut out for me. I don't think she was ever handled. She's not the least bit tame. She is one pissed off snake when you get near her. I've got a lot of hands on time with her ahead. She's already nailed me 4 or 5 times.
I'm going to give her til this weekend to try and get settled in and then start working with her.
They were feeding her 6 mice once a week. Does this species do well on small rats? What about gerbils? I've got 3 gerbils that I can't even give away (they're alive) and am thinking about giving them to her to take care of.
Any thoughts on that?
Marcus
I feed my Blues smaller meals rather than a single large item. For some reason they just seem to prefer it that way. They become really irritable whenever I give them a large prey item so I don't do it unless the pet store is out of smaller frozen rats. It costs me more to do this but their health and happiness is my primary concern. Someone may overrule me on this but I think gerbils are OK, but NEVER feed any reptile a hamster. Hair impaction usually results.
Sorry to hear she's aggressive but she may calm down with handling - then again she may not, so be prepared for either. I've had tree-pythons in the past and some of them never ceased biting no matter how much or how little handling occurred. My 8ft big boy, Chemosh, was never handled by his former owner (guy was afraid of him) but he's a real pussycat and loves to be held. Much to your surprise, you may find that she hates you but likes to be held by one of you friends. Don't laugh, I've seen this happen - that's how I got my 7ft male Taiwan, Sparky.
Not wishing you sour grapes but if she proves to be not what you want, contact me and maybe we can work something out.
