ACF eggs!!!

ginevive Dec 21, 2003 08:03 AM

My acfs must have mated overnight, cuz there are hundreds of eggs in their tank! When we woke up this morning, we saw the frogs were still joined and the female was eating some of the eggs! (is this evolution at work? lol. That's the way to propegate your species; eat your eggs!) I quickly seperated the frogs to another tank, and hopefully the eggs are fertile. There are about a hundred or more.
I am so happy about this! I guess I can add frog breeding to my resume.
I think I know what triggered it. A few weeks ago, I moved the tank into our back room, which is about ten degrees cooler than the living room where they had been. But this week, I put the tank back in the living room and the temps returned to about 75 degrees. Maybe the change in temp triggered the breeding activity?
:D
