Ok,
I can't help you out with getting one, unless you contacted me in the spring. I've had Mudpuppies that were close to a foot in length and ate goldfish and "mudpuppy food". If you wanna contact me my email is Helmz614@aol.com

They are easy to care for, they perfer cooler temps, under 60, but adapt to warmer. They are very secretive and need good hiding places, half a flower pot works nicely. I keep three in a 37 gl tank, and they seem to do fine although they rarely come out of hiding. They eat earthworms and the occasional gold fish. As far as caresheets are concerned, any you find for axlotls or Tiger Salamander larve would apply. As far as breed in concerned, they mate in the winter as soon as the temperature drops below 55 and the female lays the eggs on the underside of submerged rocks in the spring. Larve can take four years or more to develop all limbs and about five years to mature.

thanks do you use fake or real plants/

rick gordon Dec 24, 2003 11:53 AM

I use real plants, but with a trick. You see they dig up any thing planted, real or fake, so I attached the plants to a suction cup with a rubber band and stick the suction cup to glass under the gravel.
