dead babies

gyke Jun 03, 2003 05:45 PM

I was wondering if this ever happened to someone else. Today one of my mice had babies but didn't clean a few of them off. A couple died because they still had the sack they were born in on the head. She seems to want nothing to do with them. She has had babies before and has taken good care of them. I guess if she doesn't look like she's going to take care of them my lizards will have a feast tonight.

Sorry to here that. Watch how she treats the others. If she treats them well, then probably it was an aberation. Perhaps she was stressed, tired, hot, or they were not cleaned because they were born dead or dying. It happened not to long ago to one of mine, but her next litter was fine.
