Pic of the baby I almost lost.. Reaya

mattman Dec 21, 2003 04:06 PM

My little hypo pastel that Reiko picked for me is growing up. This is Reaya one of the babies I got this summer. I almost lost this cute little dragon the second day I had her!! She was on deaths door after the apartment next door sprayed flea killer on their dog, and I guess it found it's way into my apartment. The smell was horrible, and it almost took my little baby Reaya from me. Thank God she is still with me today, and is quite the dominate little girl too. Two weeks ago I decided after her second clean fecal exam, and 5 months it was time for her to meat the other females she will be living with. Reaya is the smallest of the three but boy is she a little spitfire. She jumps over backs to get the crickets, and pushes on the larger dragons heads to make room on the highest hammock. They are just doing wonderful together which is a big plus.

This is a pic of Reaya as a baby the second week she was with me.

Pic of Reaya today

She is beautiful! I am glad to hear she pulled through her encounter with the flea spray! Tell your naeighbors to use Advantage or Frontline much less toxic to their pets and yours!!

Thank you for the tip always good info to know. After this happened I put in for a new place, and should be out of this place by May before flea & tick season comes around again. Thank God the new place is cat & dog free, and much larger too which is a plus. Now I can have that dragon room I've been planning Yes, but this was very scary cause I had about 11 dragons at the time that had to get rushed out of the apartment, onto the patio, and I had to leave them out and rush off with her to the vet. None of the others were bothered at all cause they were much larger, and in enclosed melamine cages at the time, and poor Reaya was in a tiny glass 20 gal with an open top. I'm so happy she pulled through cause she turned out like just what I had wanted. Thank you Reiko could not have picked her better myself

It definitely was a terrible experience to wake up in the morning and finding the baby you just got a day ago in bad shape. She was flat on her belly when I found her, and she had symptoms of neurological problems. Her head was tucked down, if her head was not supported she would almost roll over on her back. It was in Gods hands really. I ran her to the vet, but as you know there is only so much they can do in a situation like that. We gave fluids to try to cut some of the potency of the poison, and put her in an oxygen tank. He even asked me about putting her down, but I refused and took her home. Three days later she was back to normal 100%. Chasing down her food and basking with her head held high I'm so happy she made it through that. To me she is beautiful in more ways then one. In the pics of her it is nowhere close to the many color hues she shows. The flash, and lighting does a job when you try to take pics of pastels. Her and Kami are just impossible to capture there true colors. Reaya is like a rainbow on her back from the purplish/blue color on her spine to the green, orange, and yellows as you get further from the spine. Thanks for the nice words Reaya and I appreciate it By the way our LIL Megs going through a full body shed. I have a feeling he's going to be very nice when it's all off. The mercury vapor lights truly brighten them up a lot. 4 days after I put her in the larger cage with the MVB she got so much lighter, and more colorful. Will send you pics.
