worms or flukes swimming in water???

mike_b Dec 21, 2003 05:23 PM

hey everybody. i was looking in caimans tank the other day and i saw that there were tiny little worm like things swimming in the water. they could not have been more than 1/8 or 1/10 of an inch. as a matter of fact you have to have been starring at the tank for about 10 minutes before you actually see them. i used to keep fish in the tank with them also, but i haven't for the last 3 or 4 months. i don't know if they are some type of worm or fluke or what. the caiman seems to be in great shape. he eats everything and is growing like a weed. so i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas befrore i take him to the vet.
thanks,
mike

These should not hurt your caiman, but I'd suggest you change the water immediately as it can give him diareah. It may have come from rotten meat and in warm water they multiply geometrically and incredibly fast. Get a good filter and this won't re-occur.
