Ready to hatch?!

blazeyoungblood Dec 21, 2003 08:36 PM

For those who have kept up with my posts, you remember I have had bad luck in getting eggs to hatch for my leos. Finally.. after about two months of presice incubating, I candled my leo egg tonight and it's little tail is moving around and obviously has stripes on it. Is this a good indication, being he is moving around quite frequently, that I can expect him to poke his head out and welcome himself to this world soon? I am so excited, and this is going to be my first successfully hatched leopard gecko. I just want to know when to expect him to come out, tonight, or in a few days. Thanks!

There's no reason you can't leave him in the incubator overnight, you can leave them in the incubator for a week-in fact I purposefully leave mine in for a day after they hatch usually, longer if they seem small or weak.

Often before eggs hatch the will swell and start to take of a pinkish glow, sometimes they sweat. You don't need to know just when he will hatch. Look in your incubator once in the am and once in the evening, more if you like. He'll hatch when he's good and ready.

Hi

Just remember to leave it with the egg shell in there with him, because he will continue to eat the liquid and stuff that was in the egg with him. How long?, I will let someone else tell you.

Hi Blazeyoungblood

Please hang in here on this forum, and don't give up on trying to ask questions and get answers. To loose someone who loves there reptile and is just looking for knowledge and a little coversation and sharing would be sad.

I myself don't get on this forum a whole lot, because I don't own my own computer and use someone elses.

Take Care, TLB

I had no intention to rant, or start up a quarrel, it was just a bad day for me and this was about the only thing that made me feel better, seeing my first leo squirming in his shell. For as rare as I come on here myself anymore, I'd think people would be a little more supportive and take twenty seconds to make a reply. Regardless, I appreciate the kind words, and hopefully all turns out well for my new baby.
