40 or 60 hour heat packs

tdelliott Dec 21, 2003 09:11 PM

I have been researching shipping geckos in the winter. I am confused as to whether I should use the 40 or the 60 hour heat packs. I see some people use 60 and some people use two 40 hour heat packs.

Any tips? I will be shipping in acceptable winter weather, but want to make sure to use the right heat pack.

Thanks in advance,

Hi

I would use the longer lasting heat pack, just to be on the safe side, incase there were ever a chance that the gecko got delayed in shipping some how by the delivery service used.

I ordered a pair of geckos once from some who used a 30 hour heat pack, they used a reputable and well known overnight shipper and they had missed putting them on there flight, then temporarily lost, found again etc. and when I eventually got them they were severly hypothermic and barely moving, I had to use the hypothermia protocol on them and I was able to save them luckily, but there had been no heat left in the box when I had finally received them.

Take Care, TLB
