new to forum...thinking about gecko

lele Jun 03, 2003 06:14 PM

Hi,

I have leaf chameleons, a tarantula and rear giant silk moths and was going to stop there, but....I was at a pet shop today and saw leopard geckoes for $39.99 (on sale from $49.99). They were black and white and very pretty. I always see the orange, yellow, tan sort of colors and these were different.

So I am in the research stage and use these forums for my other critters so here I am. If you could tell me anything about the ones I saw and direct me to good websites, care sheets, etc. and then I'll come back with specific questions...I might lurk for awhile

thanks a bunch!

Its great you are interested in leos but, unfortunetly, petstores are known for carrying leos infected with crypto and the ones at the pet storereally wouldnt be good choice. Ask around, look at the cages and make sure they take good care of there animals, some petstores do take good care its just they have a bit of a rep. I've including links to some good caresheets that will give you all the info you need. But if you do have any unanswered questions just ask and we'd be glad to help.

I hear you on the pet store thing. I rescued my tarantula from a PetCo, but got my cham's from a breeder. This store is independent and amazingly clean - believe me, I checked. When/if it comes time to purchase I would definitely get them thru a breeder. I'll read the links and lurk for awhile

Just beware, once you get one leo, your bound to get more

Oh, believe me - I can never have just one of anything! Partially why I went for leaf chameleons rather than veiled, etc. b/c they are more communal (sp?)
