Why is it so difficult..

blazeyoungblood Dec 21, 2003 10:39 PM

...To get a reply on this forum anymore? A few weeks ago, I probably posted about 4 or 5 messages in immediate help from some experienced collectos, and had absolutely no reply from anyone to the point where I haven't bothered with these boards for over a month. Back a few months ago, it was so easy to get help and assistance when I decided to take a crack at breeding, and anymore, it seems like no one can be bothered. Regardless, I made a post about 5 lines down from this one, and if someone can help me out as soon as possible, I would appreciate it. I want to catch my new baby while he hatches, and want to avoid leaving him in the incubator overnight. Thanks..

Your post has only been up an hour or two. Sometimes my questions have been up for a day or two before i got an answer. Have a little bit of patience. Maybe nobody has been on yet.
Unfortunately i know nothing about breeding and am still a newbie so i cant answer your question. I try to answer peoples whenever i can but i'm usually the one asking the questions, lol.

Maybe because there is no exact answer to your question. No one can tell you exactly when your egg will hatch, that is impossable. I have seen the babies moving around in the eggs a week or so maybe even more before they hatched. And since no one knows how long your eggs have been incubating at or at what temp no one can really be sure. Just be patient, there is no problem with leaving the baby in the incubator. It is safe and warm, and some breeders leave them in there till there first shed even.

I can tell you with that attitude I could certainly understand people purposefully ignoring your posts. You act as though you are paying people to answer your questions and are dissatified with the service...wake up call...you are not entitled to anyone's time here. Be patient, give the attitude a makeover, and chances are your important questions will probably get answered within a day. This question btw, is NOT urgent at all...gex are perfectly fine in the incubator overnight, many breeders leave em in there a day or a few days after hatching on purpose.

I didn't want to come off like that, but is it not the purpose of a forum to answer people's questions? I've just found that anymore, if the question isn't "Can I get a possible patternless for het from breeding blah with something else", then it is irrelevant and overlooked. I've seen people be harse to beginners looking for assistance, and though i'm not a beginner, I am new to breeding. Now considering this is the leopard gecko forum, the general gecko forum has been much more of a help through this than it has been on here. To me, it seems that a common knowledge question that I posted 3 times in a 10 day span would at least get one reply. Something as simple as a tip on how to fatten a dented egg back up again. So when I try to address the problem, I get accused of being a pushy guy with an attitude. I simply seek help, and to me if people care about reptiles and have a passion for them like I do, then it shouldn't have to be a chore to find a few simple words of advise now and then, and I shouldn't have to post something multiple times just to attempt to get an answer. No matter how simple the question may seem, a lot of people come on here, and every single person just doesn't happen to miss my post each time. People with experience can tell a heck of a lot more to me than some book will, and can be more precise with the answers. Maybe i'm just looking in the wrong places.

Just understand that people with experience are under no obligation to help you. I understand your below statement, but I hope you do realize that first you should seek all written material before asking a question, and only present your question as a last resort. I've found if you research the subject using existing literature (I recommend published and edited books which present more accurate information then online resources) you will learn more then if everything is spoon-fed to you. These are my personal statements and one of the main reasons why I (and plenty of other people) only rarely answer questions when the answer can easily be located with a little bit of research.

This type of condecending arrogance is precisely why I no longer post ANY questions on this forum, some (though certainly not all)of the expierenced breeders seem to have forgotten how they obtained some of their knowledge.
I've read responses time and again that the person asking was talked down to or almost berated for asking such an inane question.
Not everyone is doing this for a dollar, some do it because they enjoy it, yet somtimes it sounds like like trying to run off the "competition".
Hope I didn't offend everyone but like I said at the start I won't post anymore questions on this forum because of people like this.

. . . many times, they have to absorb their yoke sac yet. Just leave them alone - they will be fine without you putting your big ole paw in there, scooping them up and scaring the crapola out of them.

Chill, take a quiet peak every now and then and just leave him alone. Soon enough, you'll be able to move him and have him screech at you.

THANK YOU! It's kind of ridiculous how worked up people can get. I do apologize that I am asking for advise to be "spoon fed" to me, maybe I just miss the concept of the whole help forum. I thought help forum spoke for itself, and honestly, searching for about an hour for a solution to my question, I didn't know the complexity of my question would decide whether or not I got a response. To me it would seem that a simple question got a simple answer, like this gentleman was able to provide to me in a matter of four lines. That's all I ask for, sharing knowledge shouldn't have to be so tough. To be honest, i'm going to be out of town for the weekend and I didn't want to come home to a dead baby in my incubator, and the proper literature isn't at my disposal at this time. I figured the sooner I got the information, the better, so I apologize for my simple questions, but I was taking into consideration the care of my baby. Thanks for the replys from the people who actually have a helpful thread in their bodies.

And I don't know about other people, but I've been sick and just got through final exams. Plus, there haven't been many questions on here lately that haven't been asked before. You should try searching through the archives.
