Substrate???

Hello all. I have been using soil for my australian water dragons, and it is extremely messy-they track it into their water container and make an enormous mess out of it. I previously had them on sand, but I was worried they might get impacted if they ate it. However, Bert L(whom I bought the Aussies from) used sand, and said it would be fine. Am I just being too worried, or is there another better alternative? Thanks.

Hey Paul,

Great question. That impaction scares me too! I am also concerned that the water gets way too dirty for them in a 24hour time span. I am thinking about switching mine from topsoil to sand again but I am worried. They areen't like Beardies that will just use their tongue when eating. Mine are aggressive eaters, especially my big male. He pegs them hard while probably swallowing soil. I am REALLY worried that if it was sand, that it would really impact!

Talk to you soon.
