Tortoise Enclosures...

EJ Dec 22, 2003 09:44 AM

Here is a repost of an old picture. I've been using this for about 8 years now.

This one is 4 ft long and 2 ft wide. The 2 bottom levels are 18 inches high and the 2 top levels are 16 inches high.
About a year ago I made another set that is 8 ft long and all the levels are 16 inches high. I'll post pictures of that one later.
I like routering the edges to 1/4 inch radius for a more 'earthy' look.

Hi,
Very nice! I want to build something like this, but with only 2 cages put together. Do you happen to have building plans posted anywhere online for these enclosures that I can look at? Thanks for the idea and great pic

Right now I have Flattails, Russians, and juvenile RFs and one section I have split into 3 with Juvinile Stars, a leopard and Libyan greaca.
I use the short (4 foot) one as a kind of transition holding facility.

That is a fine piece of work as well as a very efficient use of available space!
I think I see a similar enclosure sitting in my tortoise room in the near future.
Are those Active UV bulbs in the clip lamps?

Those are Active UV heat bulbs in Clip lamp. I just found some Hanging type lamps that have a deeper bell. I'm going to hang those from the bottom of the enclosures on top.
