pics of my yearling...and a breeding ?

IcedGoddess Dec 22, 2003 11:54 AM

This is Breaden.

He's about a year and a half, and 35-38 inches long.

My snow is about 48 and probably 2-1/2 or 3 years old, and she was bred last year to an Okeetee I no longer have. I was hoping to breed her to Breaden this year, but I'm wondering if he's too small? I've heard of yearlings mating and producing, and she was foot longer than the Okee last year...and they did great! But I'm wondering if there's any danger of her thinking breaden is food not fun? I've been introducing them through the glass, and they both seem interested, I just wonder how safe he'll be with such a big female?

And one last shot of him playing "peek-a-boo" and showing how great carefresh is for Anery camaflauge

If he's 35-38 inches, go ahead. I don't think there's any danger due to his size. As always, when you introduce the male, watch to see if the female is receptive. If she isn't ready remove him.

I was starting to wonder if all those post above had drowned my ? out

I was just looking at some pictures of the difference in my snow and Okeetee's sizes last year, and I'm pretty sure these two will be good for this year....assuming he's old enough to care and she's in the mood for love

Here's last years couple. This pic was taken about a week before they actually mated..(my snow's a slut I guess)

Snakes are a lot like people in that the male comes to breeding age earlier than the female. Also breeding is not nearly as stressful on the male as pregnancy is on the female.

It won't hurt the male to try, the worst case is that your snow won't conceive.
