Pelleted/canned food?

BlueMoon Dec 22, 2003 01:14 PM

I'm going to be away for a few days next week, and my cousin will be coming over to take care of my Uro. I thought it would be easier for her to give him a pelleted food rather than having to cut up fresh greens and add vitamins and whatnot.

The pet store people pointed out to me that a Uro gets his water from food, so he'd get dehydrated eating dry pellets. They gave me a moist canned food instead, which made sense.

When I got home, I read the ingredients and saw that the ingredients include a lot of soybean meal, fruit, and sugar, none of which are a part of my Uro's normal diet. Is this an OK thing to feed him while I'm away? At the very least, would it be suitable as a treat, or not at all? It says it's intended for iguanas, tortoises, and "other fruit-eating reptiles."

Any suggestions for a better kind of pelleted food?

Thanks!

I would think that adult iguana food (pellets) would be better. You just soak them in hot water before you food them.
