How long....

alkee42 Dec 22, 2003 01:39 PM

How long does it normally take for a female to lay her eggs once she has become very noticably pregnate? My female has two very noticable eggs and was wondering when I can expect her to lay.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Hi

Well, I can basically tell you that a female when she is getting close to her laying time, will pretty much stop eating a week or two before she is going to lay her eggs. So once you notice that, you can have a pretty good idea as to when.

After the eggs are layed and you have put them into the incubator, I myself have watched the female and in my opinion she needs about an hour just to chill out and then after that, feed her and make sure the food is dusted with calcium, because so much of the calcium inside of her goes into the egg process.

Take Care, TLB

When I see noticeble eggs that burge out the sides I check the laybox frequently- I try to aim for 2-3x a day. I don't do it more than that because if you disturb/interrupt the female too much when she is trying to lay I think it can delay her laying.
