Silkworms

micky-kennie Dec 22, 2003 02:17 PM

Hi! I was going to buy some silkworms for my chameleons, and since they (the chameleons) are little once the silkworms get too big I was thinking of feeding them to my savannah monitor. Does anyone knnow any problems with this? I would think that they would be a good food source, and they get fairly big, plus micky(my monitor) hasn't turned down any kind of protein pased food yet! Just wanted to make sure that there wasn't some other health issue like that in beardies and fireflies. Thanks!

Fireflies are for ANY reptile. Very bad for them... however Silkworms are supposed to be one of the best insects to feed to most reptiles that will eat them. They have alot of nutrients.. less fat and more protein plus they're easier to digest than many other commonly available feeder insects.
