most exotics including Ferrets, boas, and pythons have been banned in NYC for years. The ban is really only "The City" and does not cover most of the suburbs.

I know there is a ban however I was under the impression that it was poorly written. I see people in NYC with boas and pythons all the time. Does the ban only pertain to a size or age of snake? For example I know that on long island Boas are only against the law if they are over 10 ft long.

they banned certain animals all together, regardless of size. Contact your local herp society, I bet they could tell you exactly what is banned. I'm pretty sure the law didn't specify and banned most constrictors.
