Did my mistake screw up my Paulsoni's feeding habits???????

I purchased a male Solomons ground boa at the Atlanta reptile show about four weeks ago. He was feeding on live mice once a week at the dealer for a long time, so when I brought him home I waited about a week to feed him (to acclimate to his new conditions). I was preparing to go out of town for Thanksgiving (Wed thru Sun) and I ACCIDENTLY FORGOT TO TAKE THE MOUSE OUT WHEN I LEFT!!!!!! STUPID< STUPID

I dont think so.The poor thing may not be hungry! I dont know if you know or not but these snakes have a really slow metabolism and only need to be feed one correct size mouse every three weeks. I cant believe they were feeding it every week not that they wouldnt eat but I have been told over feeding them is not good. If you want check out my groupsite at the address below and Jerry Conways (Candoia) site is located under Kingsnakes caresheet section Randy

I don't know that I would say that your seller lied, but if it is a male and it ate weekly it would probably be useless as a breeder. It would be very obese. My male Isabels eat as off schedualed as any snake I've ever seen. I have seen them eat every two weeks for 3-4 months and then they will stop eating completely for about 2 months. This is perfectly normal and none of them have lost wait in this amount of time. And they are breeding machines. If it is a male, Make sure you don't have it in an overly large enclosure as these snakes are very shy and easily intimidated. Also, being a male try mouse hoppers or small mice. Males seem to be alot more picky about the size of their meals than the females.
