Lost Alligator Lizard

I have a young alligator lizard that escaped inside my room. We have already turned out all the lights except for a heat lamp and left it on But so far he hasn't showed up. Do any of you have any suggestions for finding him?

I found an escapee by putting out a bowl of water in a closet where I had found one of his sheds (he'd been AWOL for 3 months at that point). I put a crumpled up brown paper bag next to the bowl as a hiding spot. Two days later I opened the closet and there was a little nose peeking out from under the bag.
