Hey all, i have a 5 foot red tail boa, i have had her for 2 years (since a baby) and she has all ways eaten great on F/T rats, but she has been really picky in the past year, she would eat, really good for about 3 months and go off for a while and resome. But she has gone 3 months with out eating and im geting worried. She has a very good weight, (hasent lost a gram) and looks great and still loves to be handled. I have her in a 5 foot by 3 foot by 2 foot cage, the night time low is 75, and i have a good heat gradent, i have a basking spot, and the day time i keep it at about 85 in the warm end. The last reat was live and she ate it, and i offer a F/T every week. I nought aounther live rat and she did not eat, so i took it out and the next night i killed the rat and put it in side of her hide box with her, she did not eat. (please note that when i feed live rats i leave the top open and i stand over head with a snake stick to wack the rat if it gets mean, and i good pair of gloves, I NEVER leave a live food item with a reptile alone). But should i take her to the vet? The only prob is i cant find any good local vets that are reallly (i ahve to have a really good vet) good with snakes. And one hates reptiles, But i was in the hospitle the other day (dirt bike wreck) and the guy that was sewing me up told me about a really good reptile vet a few hrs from here. (some how he know i kept reptiles) But should i trust a vet i dont know? Well thanks for any help!!
Philip
