Wait a minute, a 55 galon will not be a good idea for very long, even for a 1.5 foot dragon. The dragon will start rubbing its nose on the glass, and after time, it could cause serious problems. But whats ideal is something around 350 gallons, or 5-6' high x 4-5'wide x 2-3' deep. Which will run you from 150-200 to build.

For an adult dragon you need a 350 gallon cage or larger. You can build one yourself for about 300-400 dollars, or buy one already made for about a $1000.

Materials alone cost us over $200 dollars just to build a 2x2x4 foot cage for my bearded dragon.

The last cage we made was: 5'wide x 6'tall x 3'deep and it cost us under 200 bucks canadian funds=130 american to build...my girlfriend's dad owns a cabinet building business so we just buy wood at wholesale prices from him. The most expensive part is the metal screening.

My 4x6x2 cost 130 dollars, everything minues the glass was around 100 dollars. The glass doors were sorta free, cause my dad owns a frame shop and he just took 2 large whit 1/2 inch wide frames and put some thick glass in them and we put hinges on them.

i built an 8 ft long 4ft wide 6ft tall cage for my iguan for around 150 bux. you dont have to buy the most expensive lumber. just be sure that you stain it and let it dry and get rid of the oders before you use it.
