I am almost possitive that the only one in exsistence was taken by Fish and Game from the person that had it. Please dont quote me on this, I just really believe that is what has happened.

Dude where in the world did you get that info from? why in the world would the fish and game take that away? Anyways their only a hand select few of these snakes out their. Actually this summer someone had 50% and 66% het for these guys on here for sale at around $500 I think..I could be wrong. Just search a little more and call around to talk to someone. You will find someone who has hets possibly or is breeding them.

US Fish and Wildlife took all the lucys and hets away. The reason why is because the guy that collected the first lucy caught it in Colorado (which is illegal).

USFW set up a huge operation and raided many of the larger breeder's facilities. More tax dollars well spent, laf!

It's really a shame, they were some beautiful snakes. I'm sure another one will be found in a state that allows hogs to be collected legally in the future, or one might just pop up un-expectedly in a random clutch.

Believe it or not the story is true. I wouldn't have believed it myself but found all the info by doing an ask jeeves search for leucistic hognose. The details can be found on the Herp Law and Politics forum. Unfortunately the guy just didn't have his permits in legal order for what he was keeping and selling according to Colorado State law. The media also made it a big deal because he also allegedly had quite a few venemous snakes and some high powered assault rifle also without permits. It sounds like the Denver Zoo (I think?) has his stock now so who knows when we'll be seeing Leucistics for sale again. I sure was hoping to start seeing them on the market more frequently as well but I assume whoever has the Leucistics now will also try to breed them. They would be idiots if they didn't because that is one snake morph that needs to become available to the public.
