UV Heat bulb for turtles...

PhunkeyPhish Jun 03, 2003 07:35 PM

Hi, i have 2 sliders, a 6.5 inch adult res, and a 4.5 inch juvie cumberland slider. I was using just zoomed uvb 5.0 bulbs but i recently got a 160 watt flood. there bqasking area is about 12x12 inches, and i got the uvheat bulb suspended 18 inches above the basking area making the basking area 90 degrees. Just wondering how this sounds. im worried about teh light falling because their basking area is only a few inches under the rim of the tank so the light is way up there, but it seems secure. Thanks

Actually the basking area is about 95... is that too high, i believe it is, however, i live in florida and on 100 days there are tons of sliders piled on top of one another on logs on the river.
