Hi all

I've noticed alot recently that whenever any of my guys are in shed they retreat to their humid hide (normal of course) BUT beforehand they ALL turn the container around so that the opening is at the back of the tank and i can't see inside. I thought at first that they were just moving it around in the process of rubbing against it but i watched Dot this morning (she was finally all white and ready to shed) and she moved the container then got inside where she shed. She's now all done and WOW i must say she's a beauty. Going to try to coax her out so i can take some pics.

Boo again appears antsy. He's been all over his tank 20 times and moved everything around...again. This is a really dumb question but i gotta ask.......do the females excrete horomones to attract the males??? I would think so but i have a habit of second guessing everything. hehehe. I believe this is whats happening as Bronx too has been out alot more, active so much even with me around.....not a typical behaviour from him.

In any case the guys and gals won't be spending Christmas together......i still don't have a digital scale to weigh any of them and i'm not so sure Zoe, who is my largest female, is at the right weight yet.

HEHEHE there goes Bronx again....its like he got a shot of caffine or something LOL And people wonder why i like to sit down here all the time watching them

(((side note: my crested gecko Zeek now watches TV on a regular basis...its sooooooooooooo cute. He gets right up to the side of the tank closest to the TV and perches on his vine moving his head back to me when i flip stations hehe)))

The only times my leos move anything in their tank is when they get to "log-rolling" on top of the TP tubes. Of course, they don't mean to do it and it scares the poop out of them, but it's hilarious to watch!

I have toilet paper rolls for my guys to *play* with hehehe. Lily is the funniest with hers...rolling it around her tank. She seems to like getting around that way and her balance is getting much better

Boo has his humid hide on its side....i found him this morning on top of his large rock, but right now he's trying to get into his humid hide. What i think is the cutest is when they are sleeping with their head resting on top of one of their smaller rocks. Its like a pillow

Thats funny, moving cage furniture. On the female scent I think the same thing. I used to keep my male in a Tank right next to the gals. he was always running about, went on a hunger strike for a long time and wouldn't even accept wax worms. I moved him to my bed room where I keep some of this years male babies and it didnt take long and hes eating and being normal agian, weird. Funny, I have 2 Tokay tanks right next to my pc desk here and everynight my adults come out and hang where they watch me and the pc screen. Now the babies are starting to do it too. It like I have 15 sets of eyes on me or there keeping up on my posts.

It is kinda creepy having Zeek watch my every move. He used to hide all the time and never come out but now he's out alot...peeking out from under a leaf. He just perked up now that i'm at the computer again. He has stuck his head right out. Its sooooooo cute I think what i find creepy about him is the fact that he's a crested gecko and thus doesn't have eye lids...he never closes his eyes. I never know if he's awake or not hehehe.

As for my leo boys, they'll just have to deal with the fact the girls are in the same room. I can't move them out right now, things here are a mess and its best they all stay here. They are all calm right now......hiding away in their caves/humid hides

Peace and quiet......after a long stressful day its nice

What do you like about Zeek? I'm considering expanding into another species & I'd like an arboreal lizard, one that can climb, so I'm thinking of a crested as they're sooo cute. What would you like to say to someone considering a crested?

Hi, well theres alot i like, no love about Zeek. The way he perches on his vines, how he changes colours depending on how he's feeling, or so i'd assume....a light tan/grey colour when he's not in the best of moods and a bright rusty red colour when he seems content. I love my cresteds personality....curious about me as much as i am about him. He's always checking out what i'm doing, even if its from behind a leaf. Zeek isn't fond of being held and thats fine with me. Its really cool how he rolls back his toes so that he can walk without sticking... and he can leap with the best of bull frogs hehehe. I absolutely love to watch him hang upside down from a vine to eat from his bowl and when i was feeding him crickets he would stalk them like a cat. Their movements can be very quick or extremely slow. I also love how i can set up the entire tank for his habitat instead of just the bottom. The possibilities are endless. He is currently on the Crested Gecko Diet so feeding is simple and i mist the tank twice a day plus i have a water bowl. He also doesn't require any supplemental heating....room temp is good (i have a small lamp with a 25watt bulb on one side in case the room gets cold but thats only for the winter).

All in all i'd love to have more.....hehehe maybe Santa brought me some more tanks

Hope that gives you some helpful insight into cresteds

Cute! It does seem like leos need their privacy when they shed. It's a vulnerable time for them.

What I'm curious about is the fact that all (?) of your leos do it. Isn't it funny how they can be so different but still so consistent?

Yep they all do it....maybe not Abby so much as the others.... Her tank is set up differently than all my other leos. She's not fond of light or much movement so i've got things arranged so that she's got privacy. It is cute how they all have different personalities yet share the same habits
