Swimming Water Dragon

Tanthalasa Dec 23, 2003 03:19 PM

If I put my water dragon in the tub for a swim how deep should I fill the tub? Do you guys have any suggestions to make it easier on my water dragon so he doesn't get too stressed. Thanks.

if they can climb out they'll be fine...I'm almost positive that water dragons and basilisks can stay underwater for approx 15-30 minutes...although that could be terribly wrong...I think I read that somewhere...but either way they are excellent swimmers so if they can climb out easy...go for deep and long water areas...

Yea they can remain under water for a little while, I think its a natural defense against predators. So sometimes when dragons are first bought they may do that if their really stressed. When I give mine a bath I usually only fil it up about 6" on one end to about 4" on the other. But depth doesnt matter as long as theres something he can easily climb up on.

One thing to be careful of in a situation like this, is the water temperature. If the water is to warm they become lethargic and weak and may have hard time climbing out and can drown in a rather shallow amount of water. The water should feel cool to the touch, 80 or less.
