I've got the scoop! Blizzards and patternless and albino! Oh my!

armiyana Jun 03, 2003 08:00 PM

I ran by Prehistoric Pets today and Jay was in ^_^
I asked how the blazing project was doing. He still seems a bit fustrated with the odds, but there's 20 blazing blizzards in the groups there and the oldest male is already breeding. He's planning the first blazings being released for sale next year and says that they will most likely be priced at $1,000.
So far there's been no success in crossing the Bell albino with blizzard and all of the blazings are Tremper strain.

Now...the banana blizzards. High yellow Blizzards. There were patternless leos in the first groups that they bred blizzards to. So the babies from that group, when bred ironically lead to the first banana. They made the mistake of assuming that it was a patternless bliz. And Jay stressed the point that they were wrong. I reminded him to update the site info ^_^;
He said that the patternless blizzard crossing is the old wives tale that comes back to haunt you..heheh.

Now Kelli needs to think of a neat name to call her true patternless blizzard by...lol

I think the trip was well worth the info. I should start saving up for that blazing ^_^

Cool, so know we know for sure. I have a question about their facility though. I remember reading in the [bleep] i think that at PP's facility all their snakes had numerous ticks and mites. I was just wondering if you saw this why you were there, also what kind of shape were their geckos in, because I heard that they were kept in poor conditions as well. Is there any truth to this??

Cool, I'm glad that you went by and talked to him in person. Now it can be laid to rest. I wasn't sure who to ask for in my email, it was just a question I had awhile ago and finally got an answer... Sooo, the blazings aren't popping up as fast as he'd like eh? Did you get to see them? Probably cooler looking in person then could ever be seen in a screen shot or picture posting, huh? Bananas are high yellow blizzards, nuff said. I think we finally have the proof that was needed to end the conversation. Thanks for keeping us up to date, and please post if you learn anything else... Oh and one last time, I wasn't trying to start a war over the banana thing, I just wanted to post my reply I recieved and it obviously came from the wrong person... So I'm sorry.... There I apologized....

Thanks
- Richie

I didn't get to see them in person unfortunatly. I would assume they're under pretty strict lock and key too...
There's still a big misunderstanding on bananas...bad history, lol. And the fact that Jay never updated the site doesn't help, lol. But now you know not to spend a whole lot more on a banana thinking it has 2 genes when it's just a yellow blizzard, lol

heh - yeah so true, I was misunderstanding the whole thing. And I'm glad that I didn't produce any hard feelings anywhere. I sat back and looked at my posts and I thought to myself "Geez, all it looks like I ever do is argue with people"... Heh, thats not how I want to be known... You know "Oh look that Richie guy posted another whiny butt reply to something thats been proven false already"... Yeah that would suck if that was me. But again, thanks for understanding my point of view and for clearing it up as well... BTW the "midnights", are they as hard to get as the blazings? or are they a bit easier? Thanks again all and take it easy.... Ahem, I still need some info on my Pastel and Tang post up a bit...

Thanks
Richie

Midnights right now are kind of a fluke I think... O_o
Most people who hatched black blizzards ended up with grey or white blizzards in the end.
There was one person who had an adult that posted here, but it died. I can't remember what illness struck it... =/
I'm not sure if Jay has any pure black blizzards, but the way that he described it made it sound like he did. Next time I head down there I should get more info on that ^_^
So I would think that a black blizzard (that stays black)is just as hard to produce as a blazing.

Finally its all said and done, the banana is a highyellow blizzard, a Blazing Blizzard is much harder to produce then 1:16, the blazing are all of Tremper, and they are going to be priced much cheaper then I thought (I thought $5,000), and $1,000 doesn't seem to bad at all considering their so rare. Next time you go, can you ask them what they did get from their double het blizzardxpatternless breeding? When Jay sent me the e-mail, he said that the "Midnight Blizzards" were produced from these breeding. Thanks for putting this all to rest.

He told me that too
But he said there's a distinguishing marking of white on the underside of the neck of the midnight blizzards that hatch from those double het pairings. So we'll see...
Maybe we'll see some pure black leos after all...most midnights lighten up to grey or white, but he implied that these ones stay darker.
