What the heck are these people thinking?????Bananas are for monkeys!

I find nothing wrong with attempting a varied diet for your monitors, even as "fruitless" (sorry for the pun) as that may be.

Although there is a difference between that, and being either lazy or cheap and feeding your monitor dog food. Dog food that has been processed, made of nearly 100% junk & fillers with preservatives. Feeding dog food is mearly being too lazy or cheap to provide a sufficient diet.

just my $0.02

Some brands are specifically formulated to meet the needs of a carnivore, and have no preservatives or fillers. I know a few people who opt for these foods for their companions. Its a far cry from ALPO. nOW, I couldnt see useing this stuff to replce a diet of whole prey items, but as a supplement, it wouldnt be bad.

1.There are no laws or governing bodies checking or enforcing that the ingredient lists are even close to accurate, there could be anything in it, all they have to do is specify not for "human consumption", and put anything they want in it.
2.The diet for a canine is omnivorous and based almost entirely off of grain products.
3. Processed food causes tooth decay, that is why so many dogs and cats now need their teeth brushed combined with weak genetics from massive inbreeding over hundreds of years to get our current purebreeds.

I play this the other way around... I give my dog mice. Just as a treat right now.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?

Always quick to jump the gun Shvar. There are dog food makers that use whole foods(ground up animals). Youre not going to find these specialty dog foods at you local grocery store, but theyre out there.

Like I said... "exceptions to the rule".

Are bananas "fruitless" for you? Assuming it's not the only thing you eat.

Except for the cage, which no one really knows if it is kept it it, the description is pretty accurate. It looks in good shape, no nose rub or noose marks. Those type were imported a couple years back, so it probablly is a LTC, plus it looks like it. Also, after being in captivity that long, it is very well possible that it has dropped a unfertile clutch. Just some thoughts. -Jeff

Maybe you would be interested in an agressive, $200. WC common niloticus as well...

JT Dec 24, 2003 12:28 AM

While the price is high, dude might have gotten taxed that and now has to try to get it back. These are from some different locale, that makes people for some reason not want to give it out freely. I almost got a pair, and they were more than your common or sumatran water, but the pair was about 1/2 the price he wanted for one. Then again, they would have been fresh adult imports, and seeing how my Cumingi came in, it would have taken a little work to get them to look that good. Check them out on Herpafaua Indo's site. Basically, them monitor looks healthy, LTC, and isn't the best orange spot, but basically is one. That's all I'm saying, the ad was represented fairly well. -Jeff
