Albino or Patternless... Queston on which one to breed.

chrysemys Dec 23, 2003 07:54 PM

Hey,
Right now I have a High Yellow female and a Tang male that is het for Albino and Patternless who have produced 4 clutches. That was my first attempt in breeding. Now that I have the basics down I would like to start producing either Albinos or Patts. Since my male is already a double het(Patt and Albino) which one is in more demand? Would I be better off producing Albinos, or Patts? I have heard Patts seem to throw better looking normals (as in high yellows ect) than say an albino would. So I am leaning towards getting a Patt female. . .
What do you think?
Thanks,
Chris

Since your het gecko is also tang, If I were you I would get a tang albino or an orangey patternless, and try to produce tang albinos or tangerine patternless. Better yet, get a tang albino het for patternless or orangey patternless het albino.

Oh, and it is not true that patternless throw better-looking hets/normals than albinos. It all depends on what else is in the genes. If you have a dull tan patternless or a dull ugly albino, they're both likely to throw ugly normals. But if you have a bright yellow or arangy patternless, or a bright yellow or tangerine albino, you'll get nicer hets/normals.

Example: This female gecko is the result of crossing a hypotangerine albino het patternless male with a yellow normal female

Albino het paternless or a patternless het albino. Then you would get patternless babies, albino, and a few paternless albinos babies.
But make sure you the strain of albino is tha same as your male.(rainwater or tremper, etc,)
