Changed Feeding Habits

I have a Blood Python which is about a year old. when I first got the snake it would take live mice and grab it within 30 seconds to a minute. The older it gets I noticed it takes longer for the mice to get nabbed and the snake won't eat unless its dark out where before it used to eat in front of me in the light. Is this normal behavior?

Hey,
It doesn't sound like there is anything wrong with your snake. You must remember that bloods, and short-tails, are by nature nocturnal so that their feeding response is going to be most heightened at night or when the lights are out in the room. For them, it is more of an internal clock and they know instinctively when that time is. So if I were you, I would feed him or her at night to begin with and rely on the feed response that you get from him at night, as that is the best time to feed them any, as they are their most alert during this time.

It could just not be so hungry at the moment. I find if mine have had good meals the past few weeks they dont seem so interested. Alot of times it is harder to feed during the winter as there natural instinct tells them not to eat during the cooling period. During the night is always a better time to try like angel said as well. Nothing to worry about tho unless it stops feeding entirely for a long period.
