scale rot

mistysprouse Dec 23, 2003 11:01 PM

funny how you don't really pay 100% attention to something till it affects you. Can someone post the picture of scale rot again?

I am not sure my baby is starting have one scale going bad. He just finished shedding towards the end of last week (hence the increase in spraying of his tank *wondering if this could have caused it*). now I am noticing a scale I don't remember being darker. It runs along the line that has been on his belly since I got him in may, the coloration isn't the whole scale. see picture I used the red arrow to show where it is. could it be scale rot?

I have starting putting neoporin on it, anything else I should be doing (going to the vet maybe)? how long does it take to clear up?

humidy is usually around 50% and I spray the cage once in the morning and once at night, computer paper lines the bottom of the tank.

I can't tell from your photo if it is scale rot or not ~ I've only dealt with scale rot this one time. I treated with neosporin daily and he cleared up just fine after his next shed.

yep, thanks for the photo.

mine doesn't quite look like that, maybe it is nothing or the start of scale rot. I will keep using the neosporin and keep and eye on it.

have anything to worry about. It's not scale rot.

It just looks like a dark scale...kinda like it wasn't connected to the line of dark scales on the side. It doesn't look like anything to worry about.
